About
05 Aug 2009, written by gcampbell 4 Commentswho/A writer and an editor with a shared love of all things Southern, good food and good wine, and the open road.
what/Slow travel and slow food meets high technology. Taking in charted and uncharted cities, towns, villages, and farms below the Mason-Dixon line with the help of the latest and best travel tools, from twitter to flip cams, iPhones to bike computers.
where/Originally conceived of as a two month trek from New York to New Orleans, we’re now breaking off a smaller chunk. Call it a trial run, call it a new rubric. Semantics. We’ve narrowed down our options to three routes: Virginia Wine Country, the Triangle, and the Deep South, aka Atlanta to New Orleans.
when/We’ll set out this fall. Mid-October is as close as we’ve gotten to an official departure date. We’ll keep you posted.
why/We’re embarking on this project because it’s something that we’re both incredibly excited about – getting out there, meeting people, seeing things, and sharing those experiences through our website, our twitter feed, our videos, and our blogs. We want people to feel like they’re a part of their journey – and then when we’re done we want to give them the tools (maps, routes, snack stops) and the inspiration to undertake a trip themselves.
how/ We’re seasoned travel writer/editors (although admittedly not the most rugged ones) and approach everything with an editorial eye – we envision creating a robust website with tons of original content ranging from short city stories and route guides to interviews and hotel tours.
