Black Book
03 Nov 2009, written by gcampbell 0 CommentsFrom long before we shoved off from Ridgewood, New Jersey in our borrowed beamer, we have had friends, family, and strangers help us out on our way. We have a long list of people, companies, and websites for whom and which we are very thankful. Here, we try to give credit where credit is due.
Mollie’s parents, Martha and Jay Chen, aka Mama and Papa Chen, have been our biggest fans since day 1. There was a week or so when they stopped commenting on our blog and we fell into a deep, dark pit of despair. No one loved us! Not only have they resumed their frequent and always positive feedback, but they have showered us with love, moral support, and cookies.
While Geraldine’s parents did not hunt us down in Berryville, they did provide us with a mode of transport (even if it did break down) and were avid, though quiet followers on the site. Geraldine’s mom learned how to use Twitter, which, if you know Mrs. Campbell, is a major feat.
Geraldine’s husband went for two weeks without home-cooked meals. He also had to make due with Charlie the mutt as a snuggle companion.
Kathleen and Matty Lamerton gave packing advice, moral support (see It’s not a bike trip until someone throws a helmet), and made fun comments like “Mattie says “Vroom, vroom!”
Rob Bonstein has been a behind the scenes route master, providing map support when Geraldine was too tired to figure out the next day’s ride. He also gave Mollie pep talks.
Nick Fauchald was the man in the middle on several occasions and put up with incessant emails from Geraldine and Mollie. Even though he did not pull through as our domestique, he cheered us on from the sidelines.
